update: Feb 22, 2008 Maryland Energy Efficiency Sign-On Letter from MD-PIRG - Public Interest Research Group, and a coalition of organizations: Dear Legislator,
We, the undersigned organizations urge you to support the EmPower Maryland Energy Efficiency Act (SB205/HB 374) and the Maryland Strategic Energy Investment Fund (SB268/HB368) as a way to lower energy costs for residents in Baltimore City and Baltimore County.
BGE utility rates skyrocketed last year and rates are only going to keep going up. We need your help to make our electric and gas bills reasonable again.
Energy efficiency is part of the solution, not part of the problem. By using energy more wisely we can lower bills and lower the wholesale price of electricity that drives the higher rates in the first place.
We urge you to show leadership to reduce our energy costs by supporting Gov. O’Malley’s energy efficiency proposals (SB205/HB 374, and SB268/HB368).
